Kitchen Envy

Let’s face it. We’ve all been to someone’s home for a dinner party or after-work gathering where jealously has reared it’s ugly head. This is not about your husband talking to Bridget the Nanny or your wife talking to Claude the Personal Trainer. It’s all about the kitchen, my friends.

Back in the nineties, it was white appliances, white cabinets and gray Corian everywhere you looked. Folks were happy with four burners and one door on the refrigerator. A vent that went right back into the kitchen was acceptable, as long as it didn’t blow smoke straight into your face. Pantries were an afterthought, and who would dare have a wine cooler in their KITCHEN?

Today, soaring granite countertops with thick rounded edges, tall alder wood cabinets with a rustic fi nish, a gleaming stove (with carved wood fronted hood, of course) and warming drawers everywhere are some of the items that would be in my dream kitchen. Additionally, I would have at least two additional wall ovens, a raised dishwasher and a giant kitchen island. Topping it all off would be a gleaming stainless steel double sided refrigerator. Where, oh where is Ed McMahon when you need him?

Okay, back to reality. The truth is, there are many homes right here in Lee County that just might have your dream kitchen inside. Home- Seeker did some looking around and found one that we think might fi t the bill.

I paid a visit to Jeff Clary at his listing on Oxford Court in Asheton Lakes. Besides being an elegant home overall, the kitchen is “to die for”. First, it has the requisite granite countertops with two inch rounded edges. The sink is a granite composite undermount with beautiful antiqued Moen fi xtures. Solid maple cabinets have a cream color distressed fi nish with mahogany crown molding while pre-fi nished oak hardwood fl oors cast a warm glow throughout. A tile backsplash with framed inset is a dead-ringer for tumbled marble. In addition, top of the line Whirlpool appliances will make cooking any meal a pleasure.

There will always be someone out there with bigger burners or a taller fridge. However, you’d be surprised at the state of the art kitchens being marketed right here in Lee County. Take a look. You might just make Bridget and Claude a little jealous.
